Organic Spinach

We grow this here on the farm for as long as the season will allow. Delicate leaf spinach is happiest in our poly tunnels but we do grow it outside in the height of summer. When the season is over we usually have either Italian or Spanish spinach to offer in its place.

Reasons to eat spinach:

• Spinach, like other leafy green veg contains chlorophyll which has been shown to be effective at blocking the carcinogenic effects of certain compounds which are generated when you cook at a high temperature.
• High Vitamin K content makes spinach great at helping to keep your bones strong
• Good for diabetics, alpha-lipoic acid, an antioxidant found in spinach has been found to increase insulin sensitivity - helping to keep blood sugars down and it also seems to prevent the oxidative stress-induced changes that occur in this condition.
• An iron rich vegetable spinach is great at giving you a thick head of hair and healthy haemoglobin!
