The Organic Pantry

At the Organic Pantry we deliver our vegetables in reusable boxes.  You may notice the varying shapes and sizes of the boxes we deliver your produce in.  We reuse as many of our produce boxes as possible, whether they be wooden crates that previously boxed pears or cardboard boxes that previously stored peppers.  We encourage our customers to return these boxes to us for reuse.  Once the box reaches an unusable state it is then given to a local Wetherby based company to be recycled. 

The paper we use in the office is 100% recycled, post consumer waste paper and all paper from the Organic Pantry is recycled at the same local Wetherby Company, who also takes our plastic wrapping. 

With a wholesale produce company there is always going to be waste produce.  For us that is no problem.  With 273 acres of growing land, compostible matter is always fed back into the fields.  This helps to produce fantastic vegetables for the next season.

Organic farming works in harmony with nature for many reasons.  Fertility is provided by use of crop rotations, including grass and clover which boosts the fertility of the soil and improves the soil structure.  Pest control is done by encouraging a healthy predator insect environment which is achieved by planting large grass verges around the fields.  Ladybirds being our major pest control.  As a result of the increased insect life the bird life thrives.  On a recent count we numbered 54 different species of birds.
