January 2012 on the farm

The  farm is covered in a hard frost this morning which is essential to break up the soil and help

The wind we have had over the last few weeks has caused havoc with the fleeces which we put on the crops to protect them from birds and the snow.  They have rolled and are going to be a challenge at the wend of this week to get them back in place- it takes many willing hands.

Jonnie and Mark have been picking the vegetables- in some cases having to delay the picking till the afternoon, as they Purple sprouting broccoli is difficult to see when it have a frost on it.

Lots of good produce  available from the farm from the selection of Cabbages, leeks, broccoli,  Potaotes, small romaneque caulifowers to name just  a few.
