We grow our own broccoli here at the farm for as long as the season will allow. As with all our vegetables, we will always source as close to home as possible before having to go further afield.
Reasons to eat broccoli:
Broccoli, particularly when steamed, can help to lower cholesterol levels, helping to protect our cardiovascular system.
Broccoli is a rich source of a flavonoid called kaempferol which appears to lessen the impact of allergy-related substances on our body.
Broccoli is packed full of Vitamins A and K - both are needed in their own right but they also help us to absorb Vitamin D which is one of the Vitamins Brits tend to get low in over the long winter when our skin is not exposed to sunlight.
High levels of Vitamin C and it's anti-inflammatory properties help make broccoli a great aid to our bodies own detoxification systems. This helps to stave off the development of long-term chronic disease such as cancer.
