Our diced lamb comes from Gazegill's rare-breed organic sheep. Home reared and finished in their species-rich meadows of the Pennines. A lean meat, excellent for hot pots and casseroles.
We get our lamb from Gazegill farm whose animals graze over both the Pennines and the edges of the Yorkshire Dales. Their sheep are a mixed bunch but their main flock are the Hampshire Downs, a breed that produce a strong lamb which in early spring are up and doing well whatever the weather, a great and versatile breed.
Species rich hay meadows, medieval ridge and furrow, dew ponds and even a roman road form some of the farms archaeological features although it is the species rich hay meadows which have a direct impact on today’s produce. Their biological heritage meadows have over fifty species and in some areas orchids and other gems can be found, we believe that every plant species has a food chain that stems from it and this in turn is what builds a rich, diverse and healthy local ecosystem and fantastic tasting lamb!
Please tell us where you would like us to leave this product if you are not going to be in. It needs to be kept cool to prevent spoiling, we suggest that you leave out a cool box for your driver but a shady spot may work just as well!
PLEASE NOTE: We do not keep spare supplies of meat on site. This product is ordered especially for you as as such we need a little advance notice. The butcher needs our orders on a Friday morning for the whole of the following week so please bear this in mind when placing your order. Unless we receive it by 9am on a Friday morning we won't be able to guarantee to have your meat the following week.
