Also known as green/ golden gram, originating from India. Cooked, their creamy taste suits soups, casseroles & mixed grain dishes. These can be ground into a flour or sprouted for adding nutrition to a salad.
Soak the beans in plenty of cold water for at least 8 hours or overnight. Rinse well and cover with fresh water, bring to the boil, reduce heat and simmer until tender (around 45 minutes). If you have a pressure cooker it will take around 10 minutes. Drain and season to taste, or add to your favourite recipe.
