Our climate precludes us from getting local pineapples but we will always buy Fair Trade and organically grown varieties from as close as we can.
Pineapple is great in both sweet and savoury dishes and it is particularly good to sweeten up a green juice!
Reasons to eat pineapple:
Rich in Vitamin C - essential for the immune system and helps to keep inflammation at bay
High in manganese - essential for maintaining strong bones and healthy connective tissue
Aids digestions - pineapple contains bromelain which is a digestive enzyme that helps break down food to reduce bloating. For this to be effective it needs to come from fresh pineapple, try a bit after a big dinner to help stave off indigestion
